Dear Families,
Thank you all for your continued support in this uncertain time. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we transition to remote online learning.
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all students will begin Remote Learning. This means that students must log on to Google Classroom to complete their online lessons. All children are expected to attend Remote Learning sessions daily. The students are already set up with Google Classroom accounts. Teachers will be tracking attendance on an ongoing basis. Many families have more than one school age child who will need access to devices for remote learning. Taking this into consideration, we as a school community will be flexible as to when your child will be able to log in. All assignments and lessons will be saved in the daily assignments to be retrieved as needed.
While many things are still not confirmed, we wanted to reach out and share some information we do have. We, your child’s teacher(s) are hard at work getting lessons ready to begin on Monday, and have set up a schedule for our Daily Routines. We are including some information below. Please continue to be patient as we make this transition, and understand we are doing everything in our power to keep your child learning and growing throughout this year.
Our daily schedule will be based on our everyday routines.
Reading: Reading instruction will continue through watching videos, reading assigned texts, and answering questions based on the text. Students will need to continue reading at least 30 minutes per day. Students can access RazKids, and should complete at least one iReady lesson per week.
Writing: Students will be writing Response to Literature short pieces. They will also be participating in creative writing through various writing prompts.
Math: Lessons in Math will continue as students work on topics such as volume and measurement conversion. Assessments will continue the best they can through Google Classroom, and teachers will send out updates on Remind.
Movement Break: In the middle of the day, we will have a 15 minute Snack/Movement Break. Students can do any physical activity; YouTube and GoNoodle are good resources for this.
Social Studies/Science: Social Studies and Science Instruction will continue with modifications as needed. Each week different activities for your child to engage in will be posted on Google Classroom.
Word Study: Students can work on the Quill website and/or other grammar resources.
Prep: 5th Grade prep is from 8:30-9:15. Please check Google Classroom for activities from your cluster teacher.
Lunch: While lunch is schedule each day from 11:10-12:00, please use your best judgment when it comes to your child’s meal needs.
Again, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all online, March 23rd.
